THE WARBURG INSTITUTE

UNIVERSITY OF EXETER

International Tarot Museum©

The Warburg Institute is one of the world's leading centers for the study of the interaction between ideas, images, and society. It is dedicated to the transmission of culture, with a particular emphasis on the afterlife in antiquity. Its open-stack library, photographic collection, and archive serve as engines for interdisciplinary research, postgraduate teaching, and a prestigious program of events and publications.

An interdisciplinary center at the University of Exeter, the Center for Magic and Esotericism explores topics related to the history of magical, occult, and esoteric literatures using an innovative approach by studying many different cultures and languages all in dialogue with each other. This site showcases the University of Exeter's leading role in the study of these previously neglected subjects that are rapidly becoming increasingly important among today's scholars and students. Research topics include, but are not limited to, witchcraft, Western esotericism, occult texts in Christianity, Islam, and Judaism, European folklore, magic in Greece and Rome, as well as the history of science and medicine.

LE TAROT CULTURAL ASSOCIATION

The Cultural Association "Le Tarot" was founded in 1985 by Prof. Andrea Vitali, its current president, to investigate the archetypal, symbolic, and allegorical universe. Fields of exploration include the history of religions, philosophical thought, theater, music, as well as anthropology and Jungian analysis. In particular, the studies led the Association to critically and analytically address the history of tarot, the most complete symbolic system of the medieval West.
