Sogno Sublime I Tarocchi: as described in the leaflet that accompanies this deck, was inspired by the Sublime Dream, a 16th-century manuscript of great importance for cabalistic and alchemical studies. Its author, Pacifico Stivivi, was an alchemist friar from Rimini. He was greatly admired by Francesco I de Medici and by Rudolf II of Habsburg of Prague (an emperor who welcomed the most famous alchemists of that era to his court). The Sublime Dream, proclaimed to have been written by celestial inspiration, is considered one of the milestones for students of alchemy.
